Hi friends!
I wanted to quickly do a post, albeit a tad bit later than I would have liked, to announce my TBR for the 2020 Classicathon Reading Challenge. Now, if you donโt know, Lucythereader announced this year long classics readathon last year and I KNEW I wanted to challenge myself and complete it.
I have been steadily getting more into classics the last year and have been surprisingly, enjoying them. So when I saw Lucyโs readathon, I just had to particpate.
Essentially, this readathon is a challenge. A challenge to read as many classics in a year as you can. You can set your own goals, or try take part in the baseline challenge to read 12 classics in 2020.
I would love to read at least one classic book per month, but I think I am going to first go for at least 10 classics books…for now!
This challenge will only focus on the classics that I physically have on my bookshelf. SO HERE WE GO BITCHES:
- Norwegian Wood by Haurok Marukami )my bro picked this out for my monthly โmy brother chose my bookโ)
- If on a Winterโs Night A Traveler by Italo Calvino
- Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf
- To The Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf
- Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen
- Agnes Grey by Anne Bronte

- Catโs Cradle by Curt Vonnegut
- Lady Susan by Jane Austen
- The Professor by Charlotte Bronte
- The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde

Okay, that is is my TBR for Classicathon 2020…hopefully! I really wanted to write this post to hold myself accountable and see whether I am able to read all of these books specifically this year!
Let me know if you are also taking part in this reading challenge/readathon and which books you will be reading!
Until next time, happy reading!
All the love,
Allie
Xx
I have read Mrs Dalloway and The Importance of Being Earnest. Hated the former loved the latter

Oh wow, I didn’t know Norwegian Wood counted as a classic. I had to read it for my Postmodernism class and since we’re still in the postmodernist era, I just wouldn’t think that would qualify.
But I guess sometimes if a book becomes influential enough in its genre people sometimes refer to it as a classic.
If I can give my two cents, Norwegian Wood isn’t worth the time. I just didn’t think there was anything too special about it. Like a less good Catcher in the Rye.
I’m reading Lady Susan right now. Austen always writes really great characters, but I think Lady Susan is one of my favorites. She’s just kind of this huge flirt and owns it, even in such a repressive time period. I’m not super keen on the letter format, but I guess that’s what was popular back then.
I hope you enjoy your books! ๐

yes exactly! the secret history by donna tartt is considered a classic and that was published in the 90s i think. My copy of Norwegian Wood is published by penguin vintage so i just put it on the list. i’ve had it for a while so i thought i would read it and see how i feel! ive heard both good and bad things about it.
I am quite excited to read Lady Susan!!! i agree, Austen writes fantastic stories with incredibly unique characters. thank you! xx
