Good evening, friends! Another day has passed, and although it wasn’t as productive as yesterday, I’m still pretty happy!
Today, to fulfil the challenge ‘read a book you wanted to read last year (or something along those lines), I continued reading Death Note by Tsugumi Obha and Takeshi Obata. This has been a manga that I’ve been meaning to read for WHAT SEEMS LIKE 84 YEARS and I FINALLY was able to read it and I am so happy that I did.
Honestly, I knew from the onset that I would enjoy Death Note, I just had a feeling, and I WAS RIGHT. It was such a great read – I think the characters are so well developed. There is no clear boundary in terms of moral superiority – things are not entirely black and white and I consider it more of a study of human nature and the way in which total power corrupts. I find the character of Light Yagami to be extremely well written and portrayed – he is such an engaging character, completely ruthless and conniving. I just love how his brain works as well as his ‘relationship’ to Ryuk, the Shinigami as well as his need to win against ‘L’ or Ryuzaki. There were twists and turns that I did not expect, and no I won’t spill the beans, but it was such a fantastic reading experience! I know that the next time I venture into a bookstore, I will be buying the second volume because it was so good.
Also because I want to know what happens! Does Light get caught? Who is ‘L’ really? How will Light’s father react when he finds out? IT’S SO INTERESTING AND I NEED TO KNOW.
In terms of my next read, I have no idea yet what I want to read from my TBR. I’m thinking possibly picking up The Hating Game by Sally Thorne but I don’t know if this was her debut book? Does anyone know? On her website it only lists The Hating Game and 99 Percent Mine so I’m thinking The Hating Game was her debut…
As of tonight, I have also surpassed reading 1000 pages! I’m pretty happy, to be honest! I have three more books to read, four if I can read the seventh bonus book!
Sorry if this post isn’t as long or detailed as the past two ones, but I literally forgot to write this up until I was in bed, about to fall asleep and THEN IN A PANIC I got up and got my laptop!
Anyway, how did your day go today? What did you read?
Until tomorrow, friends! Happy reading!
All the love,
