TAG: Bookish Naughty or Nice

Happy Holidays, lovelies! If you’re celebrating Christmas tomorrow, Merry Christmas!

Another book tag!! If you know me, you know how much I enjoy participating in these! I want to thank the absolutely wonderful Lili at LilisBlissfulPages for the tag! Be sure to check out Lili’s blog – she is an awesome person and her blog is fabulous!

Alright my friends, let’s do this.

The Rules…

  1. Tag and link the person who tagged you
  2. Tag and link the creator if you would be so kind (I love reading your answers) – Jenn
  3. Tick/cross off the ones you’ve done
  4. Tag up to 10 people

Questions…

1. Received an ARC and not reviewed it.

I am guilty of this, to an extent. I have only done this once – which was recently, but I will review the book only it’s months late. For me, I underestimate the time commitment of both book blogging and my university coursework during the year and it resulted in me still having to write a review that should have been done months ago. I do read all of my ARCs though, no matter how long it takes me.

2. Have less than 60% feedback ratio on NetGalley

I am happy to say that I am currently at 80%, thank god. That could change since that ARC that I needed to review is now a published book which I really need to write the review for. I really need to step up my game!

3. Rated a book on Goodreads and promised a full review was to come on your blog and never did

Hell yes I have done this – only, I think, once or twice on GoodReads. I must admit that if I don’t make a note in my diary or journal about writing a review, I completely forget about it. Whoops.

4. Folded down the page of a book

It is the ultimate sacrilege to do this to a book, but I have to admit, that when I don’t have a highlighter, or a sticky note, or a bookmark of some type; I gently fold the page of the bottom corner to ensure I remember that that page was of particular importance! Every time I do it though, I swear I hear the book let out a tiny scream of anguish.

5. Accidentally spilled on a book

I don’t think I have spilled but I have definitely splattered. I bring my books everywhere, including on the table where I eat. I most likely have splattered soup or tea or any other food and/or drink on my beloved books. I can’t help it! I’m clumsy!

6. DNF’d a book this year

Yep. Unfortunately. I hate DNFing a book, but sometimes you literally cannot help it! When a book I’m reading renders me with absolute dread because I intensely dislike reading it, then why the hell should I continue to do so? I think most recently, the book I DNF’d would have to have been LIFEL1K3 by Jay Kristoff. Not because I hated it, but because life got in the way and I then became disinterested in finishing it. I will have to read it next year before the sequel comes out though.

7. Bought a book purely because it was pretty with no intention of reading it.

Honestly, I don’t think I have ever purchased a book unless there was some intention of reading it in the future. Although, I did get close to purchasing a gorgeous version of the Illiad but it was too expensive to justify just to have it beautifying my shelf. Because it wouldn’t have fit on my shelf…

8. Read whilst you were meant to be doing something else (like homework)

This has been my entire life.

9. Skim read a book

Unless it’s a textbook, I won’t skim read. I can’t! I have this fear that I will miss something super important or something. If I don’t enjoy a book that much, I just won’t read it now. I have learnt that it can be extremely healthy to DNF a book if you don’t enjoy it – why put yourself through the hassle?

10. Completely missed your Goodreads goal

Unfortunately, I always underestimate my workload for university so I have always been like 5 or so books off my Goodreads goal. It is super annoying but I try not to let the stress of it get to me – it’s a guide, not a contract.

11. Borrowed a book from the library and not returned it.

Nope! I have always ensured that I returned borrowed books even if they are late and I have a fine. I’m too much of a law-follower and I imagine scary Librarians running after me or like, libraries near me having my face everywhere in a wanted sign. So, yeah.

12. Broke a book buying ban

Again, the story of my life. I am usually good if I expressly tell myself not to buy books but I have this weird thing that if you place me in a bookstore and I don’t purchase anything, I get really anxious and stressed as if I need to buy a book or else.

13. Started a review, left it for ages, then forgot what it was about

I usually begin with the intention of finishing the review, but I have just lost inspiration to write and then forgotten what I was actually trying to say. I hate it when this happens but it does unfortunately, not often, but it does happen!

14. Wrote in a book you were reading

Of course! I like to annotate books if I’m in the mood. I usually write in pencil though and use a highlighter. It makes the reading experience more active!

15. Finished a book and not added it to your Goodreads

I hate it when I forget to do this! I usually end up combing through my bookshelves to see what books I missed putting on my Goodreads!

16. Borrowed a book and not returned it to a friend

Never ever ever. I would never do that to someone because I know how it feels to not get a book back or even get a book back that was extremely damaged.

17. Dodged someone asking if they can borrow a book

This was especially during high school; I just would nod my head vaguely and forget about it. Now though, I only have a select few who are welcome to borrow my books anytime because I trust them immensely.

18. Broke the spine of someone else’s book

No way! I hate when my own book spines are broken – it annoys me endlessly. So I always take extra care when I am borrowing someone else’s books.

19. Took the jacket off a book and ended up making it more damaged

For some reason, I love reading with book jackets on now. So I don’t usually take them off unless they are super annoying and making it hard to read the book itself. So, no!

20. Sat on a book accidentally

Oh my god, hell yes I have! I have books everywhere so I constantly accidentally sit on books that I have left on my bed or on my couch! It just happens and I always forget they’re there for some reason.

Final Score: 12/20

So, am I slightly more naughty than average? I don’t know! But this was super fun ! Considering that I feel as though I can’t keep up with who has done this tag or not, if you have not participated in this tag, consider yourself nominated! If you do end up writing your own post in response, make sure to tag me so I can see your answers and share your post on twitter!

Until next time, my loves! Happy reading

Allie
